GET IT DONE EARLY

We have a little phrase that we always say at Body Rock: “Do it now, then it’s done!”
So many still associate working out with some sort of feeling of deprivation or punishment and tend to procrastinate. Try REALLY hard to get it all done early in the morning. That way, it’s DONE! The anxiety of knowing you STILL need to get your workout in and finish everything else in your day can be so stressful and overwhelming. As much as it may sting at first to get up with the birds, you’ll feel so happy that it’s over and done with. The early bird gets the worm 🙂

STICKING TO YOUR PLAN WHILE TRAVELING

Here is an easy way to travel with food that will make life a whole lot easier.

  • Precook all food and pre measure into little ziplock baggies.
  • Put all food that you’re NOT going to eat the next day in the freezer over night.
  • Before leaving for the airport, place all frozen food at the bottom of your cooler and then place your food for the current day (not frozen) on top of the food that is frozen.
  • Be sure to make arrangements ahead of time to have a refrigerator in your room.
  • Prepare! Prepare larger portions of good twice weekly to ensure healthy food in hand all the time!
  • Pack your food the night before so you don’t run out of time in the morning.
  • Pack meals for your entire day. Even if you anticipate on being home to eat at some points in your day. If anything changes, you will have all of your meals with you and you will feel like a clean eating super star when you don’t have to pull through a drive through for a quick, unhealthy bite. Having your meals and snacks pre packed and stored in your cooler (we suggest 6pack fitness coolers) will keep you on track all week long!
  • Pack extra: pack a few extra snacks to have on hand for emergencies. We like apples and almonds because they are quick and easy and don’t need refrigeration!

MORE TIPS & TRICKS

  • Save room & time!
Pre portion your proteins and veggies. Weigh and measure out your portions and store in zipper sandwich bags. This makes meal packing a snap!
  • Weigh and measure your food after cooking! (One of our most frequently asked questions) except for your oats. Weigh those dry.
  • Workout early!
Get up and get out! An early morning workout can drastically improve your energy levels and brighten your mood. Some of us even sleep in our gym clothes to make it easier to roll out of bed and out for a run!
  • Make a date! Finding a workout buddy and setting gym and cardio dates is a great way to reach your fitness goals. You can encourage each other and you are less likely to tell yourself “I’ll just do it later.”
  • Home workouts: you don’t need a gym to keep in shape! A walk or jog around your block, plank holds at home, tricep dips off of a chair, jumping jacks, push-ups, lunges and squats are just a few exercises that we easily do at home when time is tight! Even 10 min a day WILL make a difference if you make those ten minutes count.
  • Don’t compare yourself to others. We can’t stress this enough! The best tip we can give you is to focus on yourself and your own progress. You will never be truly happy with yourself until you stop comparing yourself to others.
  • Take pictures! Stop stepping on the scale and start taking pictures! It’s common for your weight to go up when you start weight training. Especially if you don’t have much weight to lose in the first place! If you are looking to lose weight and you start a healthy eating lifestyle and fitness routine together, you may get discouraged at how your number on the scale moves. 2-3 lbs per week is a healthy rate for weight loss. And if you are lifting weights it may be even less. Although your number may not be moving as quickly as you would like, taking pictures can show you the changes that your body is making. Start taking full length selfies (front and back if possible) and you will be surprised at how helpful it is in documenting your journey.

THE SECRET OF GETTING AHEAD IS GETTING STARTED.
